Summer means the
seashore. But watch out for
those sharks in the sea and on the land.
One of those land-based sharks is Mac the Knife.
We have a song for standing near the ocean, By the Sea, and one for playing in the ocean, Surfin USA. Now if you can’t get to the ocean
and need to cool off, here is one way to do it,
take a bath with Splish Splash. (continued below)

Let’s talk about summer food and drinks. July is Hot Dog Month. Perry Como
has a song for that called Hot Diggity Dog Diggity. Need something to
drink? Would you like a Pina Colada? Now to some birthdays, Steve
Lawrence, born July 8, Go Away Little Girl. Ringo Starr was born July
7, You’re 16. Stephen Foster was born on the 4th of July,
Oh Susanna. Tommy Dorsey was born on July 1, I’m Getting
Sentimental Over You. Rock and Roll Day is celebrated July 9 and one of
the first persons with a rock and roll hit was Bill Haley, born July 6 –
At the Hop/Rock Around the Clock medley. Postal Worker Day is July 1 –
Return to Sender. Build a Scarecrow Day is July 1 (really). Who
needed a brain in the Wizard of Oz? – If I Only Had a Brain. Neil
Armstrong was the first man to walk on the moon on July 20, 1969. NASA also
has an anniversary July 29th. And to keep the aviation theme
going, Amelia Earhart was born July 24, 1897. For all that we need a little
Fly Me to the Moon. Woodie Guthrie has a birthday July 14, This
Land is Your Land. Finally one of the great summer bar songs where I
come from is Sweet Caroline.
Enjoy!
